Managing Director Paul Stephenson launched our new DAC-V1 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today. The DAC-V1 is an asynchronous USB digital to analogue converter with multiple S/PDIF inputs, precision volume control and a headphone amplifier.

Computers are an increasingly popular source of music, but in isolation offer only a compromised sound and listening experience. Connect the DAC-V1 however and your computer can become a genuine high-quality, high-resolution music hub. Combined with its matching NAP 100 amplifier the DAC-V1 is a musical conduit that delivers Naim quality sound from your audio files. If you do most of your listening through headphones however, its highly capable headphone amplifier means you can avoid using a power amplifier and speakers altogether if you wish.

Digital Versatility

The DAC-V1 is a heaven sent for computer audiophiles and casual listeners alike. Connected to your PC, Mac or Laptop via a standard A to B USB cable it can play back audio files from iTunes, Windows Media player and other specialist audio applications in up to 24bit/384kHz resolution. You can check incoming bit rates from the front panel OLED display and perform bit perfect checks on your ripped music files. Multiple S/PDIF inputs mean it can also handle the sound from digital sources like your games console, set top box, DVD and CD players. Further demonstrating the flexibility of the DAC-V1, you can choose to combine it with the UnitiServe hard disk server and the new NAP 100 to create a compact three box hi-fi system.

Compact power – NAP 100

The NAP 100 is the perfect partner for the DAC-V1. Despite its relatively small footprint (just 20 cm wide) it is a classic expression of Naim amplifier engineering, delivering 50W per channel (into 8 ohms) for an expansive and dynamic performance, bursting with trademark Naim rhythm and clarity.
